August Rush

One of my all-time favourite movies would definitely be "August Rush", directed by Kristen Sheridan, the movie stars some of my favourite actors, like Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Louis Connelly, Keri Russell as Lyla Novacek, Freddie Highmore as Evan Taylor and of course, the tremendously talented actor, Robin Williams as Maxwell 'Wizard' Wallace.  The main plot of the movie is about an incredible journey of a young orphan who finds his birth parents using his musical gift from his parents, who are both musicians. And if you love music and a little bit of fairytale, then this is the movie for you.

The plot of the movie is almost sort of like a fairy tale in a way. The main character of the movie introduced as Evan Taylor, later changed to August Rush, has this absolute belief that somehow music will magically help him reunite with his parents, whose identities he has no idea of. Anyhow, in the earlier part of the movie, we learn that his Louis Connelly is an Irish rock singer and Lyla Novacek, a classical cellist fall in love and conceive Evan. However, the couple is separated by Lyla's father thinking about his daughter's career. Month's later, Lyla gets hit by a car and thus gives birth prematurely. Unfortunately, due to her father's pressure, Lyla signs an adoption paper and the baby is given away. After which,  Louis and Lyla both abandon their careers and search for a new meaning in life.

While Evan grows up in New Jersey after which he moves to New york, where he bonds with some band of runaways living in an old theater in East Village. This is also the place where he meets the Wizard(Robin Williams) who plays a role of a surrogate father to them, while collecting and distributing the earnings from panhandling. There, the boy who have never played any musical instrument in his life, picks an old guitar up and plays it quite impressively,Wizard touched by the boys talent,  names him as the "August Rush", meaning that a potential gold mine exploits for every penny he can earn. After which, the fact that the boy got some talent is reminded again, as he demonstrates his talent on a church organ. His musical journey, which helps him reunite with his parents continues...

One of the memorable quotes from the movie was the quote above which states, “The music is all around us, all you have to do is listen”,  pretty much sums up the essence of the movie. Once again, I highly recommend this movie if you want to enjoy a lighthearted, touching and inspirational movie on the weekends with your friends and loved ones.

Enjoy the trailer:
