Back in 1945, Logan, Wolverine saved a Japanese officer named Yashida from the atomic bomb in Nagasaki by shielding him from the fire blast. Amazed by the super power that Logan has, his obsession towards Logan never dies even until the edge of his life.
Dying of cancer in his old age, Yashida who now the CEO of a technology corporation, called Logan through his mutant, Yukio. He offered Logan a mortal life by transfering his immortality into Yashida's own body. Logan refuses that night. The next day, Yashida died and left his power to his granddaughter, Mariko. Seeing the power as a burden and a life threat, Logan escaped Mariko to Nagasaki where relationship started to grow between them.
The story continues with the two trying to escape Mariko's father who wants the power and position Mariko got from her grandfather, Dr. Green, and the andamantium robot she made to kill Logan. Jean Grey, a mutant and former member of the X-Men, who Logan killed at the end of The Last Stand also kept on haunting him in a dream.
Jackman said, "There’s no doubt that the most important relationship in
his life is—we’ve seen through the movies—is his relationship with Jean
Grey. Yes, we saw her die at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand,
but in this movie, she has a presence which I think is vital to the
movie, particularly for him confronting the most difficult thing within
himself."
I'm so impressed with how the movie ends. My friends had told me to stay and wait for the credit. We then see Logan back in an airport about to go
through security, a title card on the bottom of the screen tells us
that it is two years later. . Logan calls to airport security that he would like to opt
out of the scans – no way is he getting through a metal detector with
that adamantium skeleton – when he begins to notice that something is
very wrong. The metallic objects that people are sending through the
X-ray machine begin to float. Logan spins around but is forced to
immediately freeze when he finds himself face to face with Magneto (Sir
Ian McKellen). Rather than coming on a mission of evil, the master of
magnetism is actually looking for Wolverine’s help. We see everything
freeze around them as the hero asks why he would ever help Magneto. He
then realizes that everything around him has stopped moving and we then
see who is responsible: Professor X (Sir Patrick Stewart). Wolverine is
flabbergasted and doesn’t understand what is happening, as he was there
when Phoenix ripped Xavier apart in X-Men 3 The Last Stand.
Rolling up in his wheelchair, Professor X responds, “It’s as I told you
when we first met, Logan. You're not the only one with special gifts.”
