The Eye (2008)

The eye is a 2008 supernatural horror movie made in Hollywood. This movie is a remake from the Pang Brothers' 2002 film, also with the same name, The eye. This remake movie is 100% inspired by the original movie that is originally made in Hong Kong. This remake movie is directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud and screenplay by Sebastian Gutierrez. This movie was distributed by Lionsgate and Paramount Vantage. Jessica alba, yes the famous jessica alba from fantastic four is starring this movie along with Parker Posey and Alessandro Nivola. The running time is quite long for horror movie, 98 minutes. The budget of this movie is quite high for 12 millions and reaching the gross budget for $56,964,642.

The plot of this movie is revolving aroun Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba) who is a successful classical violinist who has been blind since the age of five. Fifteen years later, Sydney undergoes a cornea transplant, which causes her eyesight to return. As time goes on with her new vision, she also begins experiencing terrifying visions, mostly of fire and people dying. The bulk of the rest of the film concerns Sydney unraveling the mystery of the visions, and trying to convince others, primaly her visual therapist, Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola), who becomes a helpmate in her quest. She knows that she is not going insane.

She finds herself in Mexico, where the cornea donor was originally from. The images of fire and death are the result of an industrial accident that the donor foretold. The donor hung herself because she could not stopthe accident from occuring.Sydney puts the spirit to rest, and begins her trek home. As Sydney and Paul wait in a queue of vehicles to cross border, a high speed police chase ends with the fugitive crashing through the border barriers and into a tanker full of gasoline.

Sydney, able to still see the death silhouettes, begins to try to get everyone she can off the highway. The tanker explodes from a spark in the getaway car's engine, and Sydney is blinded by flying glass. After recovering at a hospital, she returns to her life as a blind violinist, though with a more optimistic "view" of her condition.

For me there is no remake movie that will ever beat the original one. It is so hard to capture the same horror and build up the same thrilling atmosphere. Eventhough, I, personally doubt Jessica Alba as the main actres for this horror movie but at the end she didn't really dissapoint me. I doubt Jessica Alba because she is not the kind of actress who i see playing in a horror movie and even worse, a remake movie. But after all for 98 minutes of horror movie it is quite entertaining and not as disappointing as i first thought. The movie itself also have a deep message other than the thrill itself, it gives a message about vision, how people can have different vision and capture it differently.

Since this is October, which means HALLOWEEN and if you guys run out of horror movie, then i recommend you to watch this movie.

Tips: watch the remake first then watch the original one. DO NOT DO IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND

The Conjuring

The conjuring is s 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Ed and Lorraine Warren who were American paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of haunting. Their reports inspired the Amityville Horror. This movie is about Ed and Lorraine Warren who come to assistance of the Perron Family who are experiencing increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island in 1971.

The Conjuring was released in the united States and Canada on July 19, 2013 and in the United Kingdom and India on August 6, 2013. The film has received very positive reviews from critics and has been praise by audiences. The 20 million 70's set possession thriller earned a whopping $41.5 million over its debut frame. consider a reallly big hit that even Paranormal Activity and The Hannibal cannot follow this record. It is also consider really big coming from a Horror movie with a low budget.

The plot of this movie is about a setting in 1971, Roger and Carolyn move into a dilapidated farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode island with their five daughters. during their first day, their move goes smoothly thought their dog, Sadie, refuses to enter the house and one of the daughters finds a boarded up entrance to a cellar. The next morning, Carolyn wakes up with a mysterious bruise and finds Sadie lying dead outside the house. Over the next several days, various instances of paranormal disturbance occur, one of which is Carolyn noticing all clocks in the house stop at exactly 3:07. The activity culminates one night while Roger is away in Florida. After hearing various clapping, giggling, and seeing the picture frames shattered on the stairs, Carolyn is locked up in the cellar. Right after this, Cindy is awakened after sleepwalking into Andrea's room and is horrified when she sees a spirit at the top of a wardrobe in the room, who attacks Andrea.

Carolyn contacts noted paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren for help. The Warrens conduct an initial investigation and conclude that the house may require an exorcism, but they needed authorization from the Catholic Church and further evidence before that.
While researching the history of the house, Ed and Lorraine discover that the house once belonged to an accused witch, Bathsheba, who tried to sacrifice her children to the devil and killed herself in 1863 after cursing all who would take her land. The property was once 200+ acres but has since been divided up into smaller parcels. They find reports of numerous murders and suicides in houses that have since been built upon parcels that were once part of the property.
Ed and Lorraine return to the house in an attempt to gather evidence to receive authorization for an exorcism. One of the daughters, Cindy sleepwalks into Andrea's room once again and reveals a secret passage behind a wardrobe. Lorraine enters the passage and falls through the floorboards into the cellar, where she sees the spirit of a woman whom Bathsheba had long ago possessed and used to kill her child. Another of the Perron children, Nancy, is violently dragged by her hair along the floor by an unseen force.
The Perron family decides to take refuge at a hotel while Ed and Lorraine take their evidence to the Church to organize an exorcism. While the Warrens were on their way home, their daughter is attacked in their own home by the spirit of Bathsheba, though Ed arrives in time to prevent her from getting harmed.
Carolyn, who was earlier possessed by the spirit of Bathsheba, takes two of her daughters, Christine and April, and drives back to the house. Ed, Lorraine, two of their assistants and Roger rush to the house where they find Carolyn trying to stab Christine with a knife. After subduing Carolyn, Ed decides to perform the exorcism himself, though Carolyn escapes and again attempts to kill her other daughter, April. Lorraine is able to temporarily distract the possessed Carolyn from killing her daughter by reminding her of a special memory she shared with her family, allowing Ed to complete the exorcism, saving Carolyn and her daughter.
Returning home, Lorraine tells Ed that the priest who they sought for the exorcism had called back and left a message, saying that he had gained approval from the Catholic Church to perform it.

For me personally it is really a good movie and need to be noted that i watch it at home not at the cinema  Imagine how awesome it would be if i watch it on a cinema with all the stereo and speaker sound. me, myself is a big fan of horror movie even though when i watch it i will cover my eyes with my hand, but i really enjoy it. I really like when a Horror movie have a good plot with good actor and actresses and the director know how to build the suspense. For me, this is top 5 Horror movie must watch and you're not going to regret it. After finish watching this movie, i , instantly want to watch conjuring 2 (i wish they make that movie) and plus this movie is really interesting because they said it is based on actual event. how scary it is??
