The Wolverine (2013)

Back in 1945, Logan, Wolverine saved a Japanese officer named Yashida from the atomic bomb in Nagasaki by shielding him from the fire blast. Amazed by the super power that Logan has, his obsession towards Logan never dies even until the edge of his life.

Dying of cancer in his old age, Yashida who now the CEO of a technology corporation, called Logan through his mutant, Yukio. He offered Logan a mortal life by transfering his immortality into Yashida's own body. Logan refuses that night. The next day, Yashida died and left his power to his granddaughter, Mariko. Seeing the power as a burden and a life threat, Logan escaped Mariko to Nagasaki where relationship started to grow between them.

The story continues with the two trying to escape Mariko's father who wants the power and position Mariko got from her grandfather, Dr. Green, and the andamantium robot she made to kill Logan. Jean Grey, a mutant and former member of the X-Men, who Logan killed at the end of The Last Stand also kept on haunting him in a dream. Jackman said, "There’s no doubt that the most important relationship in his life is—we’ve seen through the movies—is his relationship with Jean Grey. Yes, we saw her die at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, but in this movie, she has a presence which I think is vital to the movie, particularly for him confronting the most difficult thing within himself."

I'm so impressed with how the movie ends. My friends had told me to stay and wait for the credit. We then see Logan back in an airport about to go through security, a title card on the bottom of the screen tells us that it is two years later. . Logan calls to airport security that he would like to opt out of the scans – no way is he getting through a metal detector with that adamantium skeleton – when he begins to notice that something is very wrong. The metallic objects that people are sending through the X-ray machine begin to float. Logan spins around but is forced to immediately freeze when he finds himself face to face with Magneto (Sir Ian McKellen). Rather than coming on a mission of evil, the master of magnetism is actually looking for Wolverine’s help. We see everything freeze around them as the hero asks why he would ever help Magneto. He then realizes that everything around him has stopped moving and we then see who is responsible: Professor X (Sir Patrick Stewart). Wolverine is flabbergasted and doesn’t understand what is happening, as he was there when Phoenix ripped Xavier apart in X-Men 3 The Last Stand. Rolling up in his wheelchair, Professor X responds, “It’s as I told you when we first met, Logan. You're not the only one with special gifts.”

Gravity (2013)

Big science fiction films are all the rage this year (Oblivion, Elysium, Pacific Rim...) and Gravity is finally one worth watching. From the trailers I had no idea what to expect. George Clooney and Sandra Bullock floating around in space for two hours eventually became my best guess.

I hate 3D movies, they give me awful headaches and I don't see the point of them. But as soon as Gravity started, I changed my mind.

The 3D definitely adds something to the film. The opening shot of earth and space is absolutely beautiful. The film starts up fast enough. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are both out doing repairs on the spaceship when Houston warns them the Russians blew up their own satellite and accidentally destroyed every other satellite there is. Debris is coming their way and they have to get back to earth as soon as possible. Of course, from the trailers we see that debris does his them, and without a spaceship they must find another way home.

George Clooney basically plays George Clooney in a space suit (a funny self-loving character also often played by Robert Downey Jr) and Sandra Bullock plays a doctor who was trained a few months for this mission only. George gets very little screen time but Sandra shines throughout the whole film. Despite her being alone, I would say there is quite a lot of action in the film. She's alone out there and you feel you are too. The film takes you in space and it feels claustrophobic to be there. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Throughout the film, you see Sandra's character growing as well. Not only is she trying to get back home, but she's finding the will to do so as well.

The film is a visual masterpiece. Yes there is a lot of CGI of course (basically everything you see on screen is fake) but it never felt like it. For once, the 3D definitely adds something to the experience. You get the depth of field you need to truly experience the movie and feel as though you're right there with Sandra. She gives an absolutely stunning performance, acting to absolutely nothing, yet always being right on the spot.

If you get a chance to see Gravity in theaters, go for it, especially if you see it in 3D (even if you usually hate 3D, believe me, it's worth it.) Alfonso CuarĂ³n has outdone himself with this film, it's definitely a must see for sci-fi lovers.

We're the Millers

We're The Millers is a 2013 American comedy film directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber with a rating of 7.2 on IMDB. It stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter and was released in the US on August 7, 2013 by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema.

After being robbed, a drug dealer named David Clark (Jason Sudeikis) was left with nothing unless a debt of the whole marijuana he has to send. Realizing that David Clark would do anything to clear his debt, his boss, Brad, use David to start a super risky new job: smuggling drug. David was left with no choice, so he figured out the safest way possible that he could pass the customs: disguising as a family. He then hired a stripper, Rose (Jennifer Anniston), a homeless teenager (Emma Roberts), and his virgin 18 year old neighbor (Will Poulter).

They start their bittersweet journey together in a hired RV, acting as if they're a family on vacation. They kept on passing the customs but that's not the problem. Turns out, David was tricked by hiss boss to stole the marijuana. Pablo, who soon realised that he was stolen, began to chase the fake family. How did the family manage to escape? Did the journey create a strong bondage between the fake family?

I never thought I would write a review about this movie. I'm not that in to a comedy movie after being so emotional tired the whole day. Unexpectedly, I went out from the cinema with my friends feeling ecstatic, so yeah..I strongly recommend this movie!

Here are some sneak peek of giggling moments on We're The Millers:
Scottie P: You know what I’m sayin’?

David: Well, I’m awake and I speak English so, yeah, I know what you’re saying.
We all know someone who ends their sentences with an utterly moronic statement like ‘you know what I’m saying?’ or ‘you know what I mean?’  Thankfully, David has given us the perfect comeback with this astounding line. Make sure you have it ready to go for the next idiot who dares to question your hearing.

Todd,  Strip Club Manager: I need a lap dance, table 5.  Don’t get too close, the guy smells like asparagus pee and he’s got a hook hand.
Rose is working in a strip club, still struggling to pay the bills and – just as she thinks that things can’t get any worse – her boss utters this little gem.  This line let me rest easy, knowing that the film ahead was going to be ok, as it was one of the first of many laughs in We’re The Millers.

The Dark Knight (2008)

I think the big question...or the question everyone actually cares about is this: Is Christopher Nolan's follow up to the critically acclaimed 2005 film "Batman Begins," The Dark Knight, as good as everyone is saying?

Quite simply, yes, yes it is. There is no doubt about it, one of the most anticipated movies of the 21st century duly deserves every amount of praise lavished onto it. This is no ordinary superhero movie, this is a character and dialogue driven piece, not as action orientated as you might expect.

I will not go into plot details, because there is a lot of it. However, a basic one sentence summary is: Batman now has to face his most cunning and psychotic enemy, someone with no real motives...The Joker. Now that that is out of the way, I will start off with the actors (and boy, is there a lot to talk about). Christian Bale has done a tremendous job as our beloved Caped Crusader, with him already blowing everyone else out of water with "Batman Begins." Bruce Wayne has a flawed personality that hangs on the balance between righteousness and criminal. His perception of justice causes an emotional and personal shift, whether he is a wealthy businessman who fights crime in a gadget-riddled suit or just a normal man who is sick of all the scum in Gotham City and decides to give the law-breakers a dose of their own medicine. Because of this, and Bale's tremendous acting, Bruce Wayne is justified, and we emphasise with Bale's flawed hero more than any of the other actors. If there ever was an excellent Batman, this is it. The theme of right and wrong is played well with his character here.

Of course, I am sure you all want know if Heath Ledger was that good. And I can safely say that he most definitely was. Ledger's Joker is not only the best, but is now the greatest superhero film villain ever. His performance is truly terrifying, chilling, brilliant; any synonyms of the previous adjectives. Every scene he is in is stolen. The Joker truly is Batman's worst villain; cunning and psychotic, nothing quite matches his laugh and sinister makeup. If Ledger nabs the Oscar for Best Actor, I honestly will not be surprised. It is a true tragedy to see such a talented actor fall at such a young age...

All the other actors cannot be forgotten, though. Aaron Eckhart has definitely proved himself previously ("Thank you for Smoking") as someone to watch out for. Here, as Harvey Dent (and later Two Face) he is very powerful. All he wants is justice; to bring down every single criminal. Eckhart is the definitive Two Face. Maggie Gyllenhaal as Wayne and Dent's love interest, Rachel Dawes is much better than Katie Holmes. Gyllenhaal's performance has substance, I really cared for her and her future and she was terrific in every scene. Michael Caine can do no wrong, and as Alfred Pennyworth he provides some comical and emotional scenes. Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, although a limited role, does inject some sly humour and much needed morals into the story. Finally, Gary Oldman's Lt. James Gordon is riveting. He at least needs a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance as another crime-fighting hero who faces some challenging situations.

Wally Pfizer’s cinematography is simply stunning. Gotham has never looked so good, so big and deep. His wide shots purvey a dirty aura and contribute to the feel of the film. Without it, it may not have been the same. Another Oscar worthy portion, THE MUSIC! With Hans Zimmer AND James Newton Howard at the helm, how could it go wrong? The score sets the mood in every scene, giving an epic and thrilling tone. During the action sequences it really ups the adrenaline. And on the topic of action, The Dark Knight succeeds in having the best fight sequences and car chases in a comic book adaptation yet. With no obvious or over-use of CGI, the explosions and accidents are the real deal. Thrilling, edge of your seat and violent, this is brutally awesome stuff.

Nevertheless, none of this would be possible without Christopher Nolan, the man behind it all. Pairing up with the writer (and brother) Jonathon Nolan, the darkest Batman movie yet is the best, and the best so far this year. This does not feel like a comic book film, the dialogue and situations feel so realistic. And, it IS the script that drives this film. The dialogue is very, very well written and is the centre of the conflict and the movie.

It may be bold to say this, but this is the best superhero film of all time. There are others that are magnificent ("Superman" and "X-Men" are two examples) but this is the most complex, the most dark and the most spectacular and epic of them all. See it for Bale, for Ledger, for the music, the action and for Nolan's flawless direction.

10/10 !!!

The Illusionist

The Illusionist

The Illusionist is a 2006 drama film written and directed by Neil Burger and starring Edward NortonPaul Giamatti, and Jessica Biel. It is based loosely on Steven Millhauser's short story, "Eisenheim the Illusionist". The film tells the story of Eisenheim, a magician in Vienna, who uses his abilities to secure the love of a woman far above his social standing.
The film begins in medias res as Chief Inspector Walter Uhl arrests Eisenheim during what appears to be a problem in the magic show. Later, the film recounts the story of Eisenheim's life through his struggles in searching his true love and the passion to be one of the greatest illusionist of all time.

The Illusionist is by far one of my favorite movie of all time. The story is so intriguing and creative that I repeatedly watch the movie over and over again. To me this is also one of the most underrated movie of all time. It was given only a 7.6 out of 10 in IMDb. It deserved to be at least a 9 out of 10.

From the beginning till the end of the movie, the story is full of twist and turns. The movie was so unexpected that it makes the watchers even more interested in the movie. At least to me it is.

This movie is one where you need to concentrate, but nothing like the concentration of inception. A wonderfully created plot really holds the movie together as well as talented actors.Filled with suspenseful moments. I would recommend this movie to all movie lovers. I can guarantee that this will be worth your time!!

Kingdom Of Heaven

Kingdom of Heaven is a British-American epic action film directed by Ridley Scott and written by William Monahan. The film consist of many famoust Hollywood starts, such as, Orlando bloom (played in Pirates of the Carribean), Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Marton Csokas, Liam Nesson (played in Taken 1 & 2), Edward Norton, Ghassan Massoud, Khaled El nabawy and Alexander Siddig. Ridley Scott is also famous by directing Alien (1979), also Blade Runner (1982), Thelma & Louis (1991), best picture Oscar-winner Gladiator (2000), Black Hawk Dawn (2001), American Gangster (2007), Robin Hood (2010) and Prometheus (2012). Kingdom Of Heaven got 4 wins and 11 nomination.

The story's set is during the Crusades of the 12th century. A French village blacksmith goes to aid the Kingdom of Jerusalem in its defense against the Ayyubid Muslim sultan Saladin, who is battling to reclaim the city from the Christians leading to the Battle of Hattin. The film script is a heavily fictionalized potrayal of the life of Balian of Ibelin. Most Filming took place in Quarzazate and Ait Benhaddou, Morocco, where Scott had previously filmed Gladiator and Black hawk Down. A replica of medieval Jerusalem was constructed in the desert. Filming also took place in Spain, at the Loarre Castle (Huesca), Segovia, Avila, Palma del Rio and Casa de Pilatos in Sevilla.

The visual style of Kingdom of Heaven emphasized set design and impressive cinematography in almost every scene. It is notable for its "visually stunning cinematography and haunting music". Cinematographer John Mathieson created many large, sweeping landscapes, where the cinematography, supporting perfomances, and battle sequence are mounted. The cinematography and scenes of set-pieces have been described as "ballets of light and color". The film also has a "jaw drooping combat sequences" based on the production design of Arthur Max

The first thing to be said for Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" is that Scott knows how to direct a historica; epic. I really like movie with historical theme and for me Scoot really succeeded to capture all of the historic battle scenes. This movie not also capture the historic battle of war but also have a depper, more thoughtful, more about human motivation and it just get all the essence of this movie.

This movie was out on 2005 and I just watch it recently on 2013, even though the movie is made almost 10 years ago but for me the technic used in this movie is not that bad compared to nowadays movie. The director is also really braved to make a movie that basically a war between two religions, the Muslims and the Christians. In my opinion that kind of thing is really sensitive and not easy to translate it into a 2 hours movie. basically, the director will make a movie that was based on hundreds years of history, a really important history. After i watched the movie (i watched two times and you can see how i like the movie) i really like how it captures all of the elements, the history, the war and the meaning of hope and faith.

I personally really recommend this movie because it is not some kind of lame movie that only shows wars and explosions. here is the trailer of the movie:

HOPE YOU ENJOY THE REVIEW :) LEAVE SOME COMMENT

August Rush

One of my all-time favourite movies would definitely be "August Rush", directed by Kristen Sheridan, the movie stars some of my favourite actors, like Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Louis Connelly, Keri Russell as Lyla Novacek, Freddie Highmore as Evan Taylor and of course, the tremendously talented actor, Robin Williams as Maxwell 'Wizard' Wallace.  The main plot of the movie is about an incredible journey of a young orphan who finds his birth parents using his musical gift from his parents, who are both musicians. And if you love music and a little bit of fairytale, then this is the movie for you.

The plot of the movie is almost sort of like a fairy tale in a way. The main character of the movie introduced as Evan Taylor, later changed to August Rush, has this absolute belief that somehow music will magically help him reunite with his parents, whose identities he has no idea of. Anyhow, in the earlier part of the movie, we learn that his Louis Connelly is an Irish rock singer and Lyla Novacek, a classical cellist fall in love and conceive Evan. However, the couple is separated by Lyla's father thinking about his daughter's career. Month's later, Lyla gets hit by a car and thus gives birth prematurely. Unfortunately, due to her father's pressure, Lyla signs an adoption paper and the baby is given away. After which,  Louis and Lyla both abandon their careers and search for a new meaning in life.

While Evan grows up in New Jersey after which he moves to New york, where he bonds with some band of runaways living in an old theater in East Village. This is also the place where he meets the Wizard(Robin Williams) who plays a role of a surrogate father to them, while collecting and distributing the earnings from panhandling. There, the boy who have never played any musical instrument in his life, picks an old guitar up and plays it quite impressively,Wizard touched by the boys talent,  names him as the "August Rush", meaning that a potential gold mine exploits for every penny he can earn. After which, the fact that the boy got some talent is reminded again, as he demonstrates his talent on a church organ. His musical journey, which helps him reunite with his parents continues...

One of the memorable quotes from the movie was the quote above which states, “The music is all around us, all you have to do is listen”,  pretty much sums up the essence of the movie. Once again, I highly recommend this movie if you want to enjoy a lighthearted, touching and inspirational movie on the weekends with your friends and loved ones.
